Winter Service

The life of your engine depends on the oil you put in. The engine oil minimises friction of the moving metal parts and helps dissipate the heat generated. It is essential to change the engine oil and filter on a regular basis. NSN only use quality oils and parts that are specifically designed for your car.

The biggest single danger in Winter is being unable to see properly so good visibility is key. In the service we will check windscreen washer operation and top up. We will also check and report back the condition of all wiper blades.

With nights closing in it is vital that all lights are working properly. It is important to make sure lights are free from dirt and not cracked; this includes your headlights, indicators and other external lights.

The one biggest reason that the roadside organisations are called out to homes in Winter is due to flat batteries. As part of our service we will test the battery and check the levels and fixings.

The tread depth and tyre condition are essential items that should be checked as it is vital that your tyres grip to the road properly to reduce the risk of skidding and aquaplaning in wet and icy conditions.

As part of the Service NSN will check and top up brake fluid, anti-freeze and clutch fluid levels. Checking these levels is vital to making sure your car is running properly and is safe to drive. For instance, if the brake fluid level is low, this might be an indication that brake pads are worn out or that there might be a leak in the brake system. Either way, we will top up the brake fluid and look at the cause in more detail.

Even a very minor problem with the brake system can make a vehicle unsafe to drive. For example, a cracked brake hose or rusty brake line can cause brakes to fail unexpectedly. Obviously, it's very important to check brake performance and the only way to check the car properly is to have it inspected by a professional mechanic. As part of the Winter Service NSN will carry out all of the following detailed brake related checks; a visual check of brake hydraulic system, pipes and hoses for wear and leaks, check handbrake for operation and travel, check security of handbrake linkages and lubricate if required and visually inspect condition of front and rear brake pads & discs for wear or damage.

As part of the Winter Service your vehicle can be collected from your place of work or home and delivered back to you free of charge. (Subject to availability. Terms and conditions apply).

Garages will collect within their local area on average within a 10 mile radius or approx 20 minutes from their garage location. Obviously this will vary - shorter distances in cities and towns and further in the countryside due to the traffic conditions. NSN can only provide a courtesy collection & delivery service for vehicles that are roadworthy and drivable, this is not a recovery service for non drivable vehicles.

As part of the Winter Service NSN will provide a complementary wash and vacuum. The vehicle will be washed externally and the footwell vacuumed. This is not a valet.
