Over general time and use, the steering rack may be knocked out of alignment due to curbing for example, which can affect the wear and tear on your tyres. Therefore, it is important to carry check alignment if you start to feel the car "drifting" when in motion, or the steering wheel's position doesn't correlate to the vehicle's direction when travelling in a straight line.

The steering mechanism is made up of components that allow you to define in which direction the vehicle moves. It is controlled via the steering wheel.
