The Mercedes-Benz A-Class, first released in 1997, is Mercedes-Benz's entry-level small car. So far it has had one major refresh and a minor aesthetic update, in 2004 and 2009, respectively. The Mercedes-Benz A-Class is noted for being the first small car to incorporate electronic stability control into its suspension. However, this only happened after a product recall following the A-Class overturning during the Swedish car magazine Teknikens Värld's 'Moose test', which is where a car has to avoid a Moose by turning sharply. The Mercedes-Benz A-Class is noted for its high safety test levels, unusually large amount of space considering the car's dimensions and flexible seating options, which provide even more interior space. |
