The Honda Accord was first released in 1976, and was the first Japanese car to be manufactured in North America (which began in 1982). There have been 8 generational releases so far, which have seen the Honda Accord change in size from a small car to a mid-size car and finally to a family-size car. However, one constant has been the Accord's reputation for reliability and safety. Take the decent fuel economy into account and it's easy to see why the Honda Accord has sold nearly 10 million vehicles, counting the years between 1982 and 1997 as the period when it was the best-selling Japanese car in North America. The latest Accord, the European-released CU2, sports a far more aggressive look than previous models have. The US equivalent has a more conservative aesthetic, but both vehicles remain as reliable and safe as ever. |
