Year Of The Dragon
04/01/2012
2012 will see Chinese car manufacturers coming to the UK as Geely and Great Wall, two major companies, search for dealers in the West. The latter has already secured 30 UK dealers and looks to recruit another 10 more by the summer.
Both intend to present affordable, practical vehicles, with Geely offering a four-door saloon and five-door hatch version of its Emgrand EC7 family car at around £10,000 and Great Wall set to make its debut with the Steed, a pick-up truck.
Geely's UK Market Development Director, Matthew Cheyne said that "initially this year we are looking to appoint between 30 and 40 dealers to provide sales and service facilities in the UK."
He went on to say that "we want dealers to apply for our franchise who want to be partners with us, who want a say in how we set up dealer network, who want to shape their future and the success of Geely in the UK together with us.
"We are starting with a clean sheet for the manufacturer and dealer relationship so we are open to new ideas from the people on the front line of retail sales and service. There will be no extravagant sales targets and no forced selling from us to our dealers. We want dealers to be profitable and have freedom to run their own businesses," he continued.
