Birmingham is leading the way for the future with the introduction of a sci-fi car park housed in the city's new Cube development that promises to take that familiar stress of looking for an empty space and place it into the calming metallic hands of the building itself.
Lurking 20m below the office and apartment centre, the car park is in such a difficult position that building a traditional ramp down to it would be all but impossible.
Instead, drivers will park their car in a lift, which will do the rest for them - placing the car into an empty bay and depositing a unique key fob for future access. This system also prevents your car from becoming lost in a stroke of Kafkaesque bad luck.
Costing £2 million and one of only two types in the world, Birmingham may well be a glimpse of things to come. And we've never written that before!
