Car insurance renewals on the rise

With the release of the new '10' registration plates close, it's around this time that many people choose to renew their car insurance. However, research from popular website moneysupermarket.com has revealed some startling figures.
It seems that as many as 7.3 million UK drivers - 22% of those on the road - automatically opt in for their current insurance provider's quote at renewal time, which of course means that insurance companies can raise prices at their pleasure - and with £1.3 billion a year being spent on increased insurance prices, that works out to every driver wasting an average of £180 each.
Just a few minutes' research using the internet could pay dividends - make sure you act as soon as your insurance is up for renewal.
