Apps Killed the Radio Star
13/01/2011
One clever little gadget revealed at the yearly Consumer Electronics Show currently taking place in Las Vegas is the Parrot Asteroid, an online, voice-recognition car stereo.
We've used voice-activated music devices before, but what sets the Parrot Asteroid apart from the rest are two things - namely how flexible its recognition is, allowing you to browse artists by genre, title, artists and that it’s online-enabled making it possible to download apps for a variety of tasks such as browsing music stored online, keeping you up-to-date on your location, provide traffic updates and who only knows what next as far as the creativity of bedroom coders goes.
The Asteroid, set for release in the first quarter of this year, will also let you play music stored on a USB key (it comes equipped with 3 ports), iPhone, iPod and all sorts of other mobile devices. As is expected these days.
