Peugeot's 106, classed as the company's entry-level car, first appeared in 1991. It served as the replacement to the hugely popular 205.

While the Peugeot 106 wasn't hugely stylish or packed with features, it was praised for its solid handling, relatively high safety rating and cheap running costs. All of these factors lead to the 106 quickly becoming a very big seller.

1996 saw a refresh for the 106, with improvements made in the engine department and the interior equipment levels. The 106 went on to sell well, right up until production ended in 2003.
