Why Car Service Should Be Mandatory
All new cars come with some form of car service and warranty. This warranty will cover certain aspects of your vehicle in case of faulty parts or labour for a very specified length of time, or so many miles. However, to continue to take advantage of this, you have to follow your service manual recommendations at certain garages with qualified mechanics in order to not invalidate your warranty. Invalidating your warranty can end up costing a lot of money. The same goes for not having a regular car service to catch parts that are starting to fail before they become a major problem that may, or may not, be covered by your warranty.
Regular car service can prevent breakdowns, accidents and costly repairs by catching any small problems that are lurking before they become a big problem.
It is extremely important that you follow the manufacturer's instructions and advice on what counts as an adequate car service.
If you drive your vehicle a lot, you will find that you will have to have a car service performed far more regularly than someone who uses their car more moderately. Additionally, if you clock more motorway miles than you do town miles, you will have to consider re-calculating how often you have to have your car service performed on your vehicle. The best thing to do is to follow whatever the manufacturer states is best for your vehicle.
It is absolutely fine to have your car service performed ahead of schedule, but don't let it fall behind. Should a major problem occur, the manufacturer may choose not to cover it, even if the warranty is still in effect, as you have not cared for you vehicle sufficiently.
