Car Service Types
Car service centres normally offer two types of car service. One is an interim service and the other is a full service. It's recommended to get an interim service every six months or if your car has covered 6,000 miles, whichever comes first. If you use your car a lot, you may need to take it in for a service more often. A full service is recommended annually, or every 12,000 miles. The cost of an interim and full service will depend on the car that you have. If you take your car regularly to the same service centre for servicing, they will give you a discount.
Whatever price that is charged for servicing includes VAT. A typical car servicing may include changing the engine oil and filter, changing spark plugs and air filter, checking and topping up the transmission fluid and power steering fluid. Checking the brakes and the handbrake cable, checking all the lights, emissions and exhaust system. Engine coolant, antifreeze, brake fluid are also checked, and topped up. The steering wheel play, ball bearings, and suspension system are also checked. Any parts that are changed have a warranty and an authorised car service centre will ensure that the replaced parts comply to the car manufacturers standards. Since we depend on cars for our daily transportation, we should get it serviced regularly. Delaying getting the car serviced will increase wear and tear on the car.
